Holistic Wellbeing : Aligning Body-Mind-Soul

It took me almost a decade to understand that wellbeing can be enhanced by addressing the Mind-Body-Soul connection. It is only through trial and error, I have figured or figuring what the things are that suit my body, mind, soul in terms of nourishment and wellbeing.

Here I am putting across what really matters in my experience to have a holistic lifestyle:

  1. 1. Physical Nourishment – Body needs movement and proper care.
  2. * That can be achieved through any physical activity like Swimming, Running, Cycling along with Yoga and Strengthening exercises.
  3. * Proper Hydration
  4. * Restful Sleep
  5. * Preventive care
  6. 2. Nutrition – What we take inside our body truly matters. And also consciously choosing what to eat in terms of quality and nutrition is a game changer.
  7. * Nourishing foods
  8. * Limit processing food
  9. * Balanced diet of nutrients
  10. * Mindful eating
  11. 3. Emotional – Being aware of our emotions, acknowledging them and also accepting them is a journey that one has to begin to understand oneself
  12. * Healthy expression
  13. * Regulating emotions
  14. * Emotional awareness
  15. * Self compassion
  16. 4. Mental – Focusing on the things that matter and learning can be a healthy way to keep the mind sane
  17. * Healthy thought patterns
  18. * Learning and Curiosity
  19. * Manage stress effectively
  20. * Focus and clarity
  21. 5. Spiritual – Feeling gratitude and connecting with the world around through prayer, community work is a step towards journeying inward with humility
  22. * Gratitude
  23. * Prayers and Chants
  24. * Living with one’s values
  25. * Connecting to something greater –
  26. 6. Relationships – Having relationships where respect, trust and love can be fostered with boundaries and mutual growth is the icing on the cake
  27. * Supportive connections
  28. * Healthy boundaries
  29. * Mutual trust, respect, growth
  30. 7. Spaces – Choosing our space matters a lot as the space needs to foster our growth and wellbeing. Any hindrance to our wellbeing then it is time to rethink about the space that you are in-be it personal or professional or communities.
  31. * Energized spaces
  32. * Less clutter, organized well
  33. * Peaceful environment
  34. * Natural lit spaces
  35. 8. Expression – Expressing ourselves in the truest sense that makes our soul happy can lead us to fulfillment. It could be through singing, painting, dancing, doodling, sculpting, writing, drama etc.
  36. * Sharing one’s truth
  37. * Authentic expression
  38. * Creative works

If we are neglecting

  1. 1. Body –

When your body is neglected, mental fog increases, emotions become unstable, and motivation drops.
When your body is nourished, clarity and vitality rise naturally.

2. Mind –

Unprocessed emotions often manifest physically (tension, fatigue, headaches).
Chronic stress impacts digestion, immunity, and sleep.

3. Soul –

When your soul feels ignored, you may experience emptiness—even if everything “looks good” externally.
When your soul feels heard, life feels meaningful.

Imagine strengthening your body but ignoring your emotions.
Or meditating daily while living in toxic relationships.
Or eating perfectly but constantly thinking self-critical thoughts.

Growth becomes fragmented.

True holistic wellbeing happens when:

  • Your body feels energized.
  • Your mind feels calm and clear.
  • Your soul feels purposeful and connected.

Alignment creates:

  • Inner stability
  • Reduced anxiety
  • Increased resilience
  • Clear decision-making
  • Authentic confidence
